Michael is working and working on developing his verbal vocabulary, but he’s still having those rookie problems with speech that we all love so much in wee ones. For instance, a cow is a “bow,” and a hippo is more of a “puppo.” He says “Momma” and “Daddy” beautifully, but struggles with Megan’s name. Her name comes out something along the lines of “Dagel” and his, something like “Digel.” Of course, most of the time, we don’t know what he’s saying AT ALL, so we’re happy to hear him call Dagel anything at all. She’s pretty tickled, too.

We bought Michael a Lightning McQueen (from Cars, in case you’ve missed that movie) bed, complete with trundle, last week. Grant got it assembled quickly and Michael likes it fine but Megan LOVES it and couldn’t wait for her opportunity to sleep in the trundle. On Friday night, Grant moved the mattress from her trundle to his trundle and allowed Megan the chance to have a slumber party with her brother. We waited the 15 minutes or so required for Michael to put himself to sleep, then sent Megan in to go to sleep, too. Grant snuck in and shot this picture an hour or so later. We watched with joy as our babies shared a room, the beginning to great many wonderful memories to come. We wondered aloud who would wake up first in the morning and whether that child would wake the other.

We never got to find out. Megan screamed in her sleep starting at about 10:00pm and Grant moved her to her room, just in time for her to start puking at about 11:00pm. She didn’t stop until some time the next afternoon.

Oh well. Next time, right? If we’re brave enough to try, that is!
