Uncle Greg Visits

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Yes, yes. I know we have been remiss in posting. It isn’t that the little darlings don’t continue to amaze and delight us on a daily basis, but things get in the way, and moments at the computer for Sandra are precious chances to check e-mail, update Mary Kay inventory, and get Sunday School prep done.

¬†Regardless, last night we allowed the kids to watch a Pixar movie that was a bit above them. They both did well with it. Megan likes to be “pretend scared” right now. That girl isn’t truly afraid of much of anything. I heard from my brother about twenty til eight. He was in town for a conference (working not attending), and he was calling it a day on setup. He headed down to visit and arrived around 8pm. While that is normally bedtime, the kids got special parental dispensation to stay awake to visit with my only brother. Megan looked out the window and said it was Uncle Greg! We didn’t give her a heads up about him coming. Michael was happy to see him too. Sandra theorizes that we share similar enough features that he adjusted to the new adult quickly; we doubt he could remember him from Christmas half his lifetime ago. Megan gave him a big hug and then sat on his lap while we all chatted. She had plenty to add to the conversation as well.

We plan to see Greg again in a few hours out at Opryland. He has a kickoff gathering tonight, but he should have a couple of afternoon hours he can spend with us before getting back to the hard work of a social gathering with collegues and customers (gratis food and drink, and if you know Greg, you are well aware that he has no trouble socializing with friend or stranger).

We sent the kids off to bed a bit after nine, and Megan went with no fuss whatsoever. She had already brushed her teeth with no fuss, and she put herself in bed and went to sleep (but she did leave her door open - little rascal!).
