Swinging Glee

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

A few weeks ago, Sandra met her friend Sherry and Sherry’s daughter at the zoo. Sandra took this photo while Sherry kept Megan and Katherine going in the swings. I love the look of glee on Megan’s face:

Pee pee in the Potty!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

For Memorial Day weekend, we went to Atlanta to visit pandas and fish.

We had dinner with Bob and Roseanne Wagner at Carrabba’s Sunday night. I took Megan to change her, and she said she needed to use the potty. She sat a while and finally peed (just a little)! We celebrated with ice cream back at the hotel. This is a great first step!

More Atlanta posting once we have the pictures up on Costco!

Thank You for the Cookie

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Nane and Grandpa came to play with Megan for a bit this morning. Nana brought Megan a cookie, and about 45 minutes later when my parents were leaving, Megan hugged and kissed her Nana, and then said “Thank you for the cookie.” Very impressive to express gratitude so far from the event that elicited it.

Macaroni Grill

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Thursday night, we dined with two other couples at Macaroni Grill. Carol and Larry brought their Grace (8 months older than Megan), and Santi and Shab brought their Yago (one month older than Michael). Both the girls and boys did a good job of interacting, and we all had a great time. We were at the restaurant for about 2 hours, so we must have been enjoying ourselves. I was delighted to see how well the girls played together. They really kept each other entertained. Yago reached for Michael’s “Floppy” with its bright colors several times, and he was full of smiles and animation. Grace, Megan and I went to the “airlock” to sing Old MacDonald and other songs as a break near the end.  Great evening with friends!

Sunday in the Park with Uncle Greg

Friday, May 25th, 2007

This past weekend my brother Greg was in town for a conference. He came Saturday morning to help celebrate my father’s 72nd birthday. Sunday afternoon, we all met in Centenial Park to feed the ducks and picnic. It was a delightful afternoon. Megan rode around on her tricycle (birthday present), and Nana rode her new scooter (thank you Tim and Kitty) as we circled the duck pond. Greg and I even got a chance on the scooter at one point. Woo hoo!  Nana took his great picture of Megan wearing her sunglasses:

Michael’s First Trip to the “Jungle Gym”

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Micahel finally got into the Jungle Gym at the Nashville Zoo. Pictured here with Sandra, he spent a lot of time laughing as he laid on the big foam cushion:

We took the kids to the zoo the day after Megan’s birthday, but she mostly wanted to play at the Jungle Gym. Sandra took the time to play with Michael.

Megan Turns 2!

Friday, May 18th, 2007

On May 9th, Megan turned two. We celebrated with a small family party on her birthday with “make your own biscuit pizza.” Sadly, Tobi wasn’t home from school yet, and Abby had to work, but the rest of us celebrated with her, and we had a cupcake flower-cake that Sandra and Megan made together.

On May 12th, we celebrated again with friends. Megan’s party was a Backyardigan theme including a Pirate Ship cake commanded by Captain Pablo:

Megan got dressed for the party in this adorable polka-dot dress:

When it came time to eat cake, we didn’t worry too much about the dress. There was little change of any of the cake or ice cream going missing:

Michael was the only guest to don the hat in honor of his sister:

Megan thanked him with a big birthday smooch:

After Megan tore through her presents, the girls went outside to play on her playground. Here Jim and Susan watch Shona go down while Savannah goes up.

But Savannah came back down:

And Shona came up the tunnel:

All the girls took turns riding in Megan’s new wagon:

You might still catch my nephew as the flag bearer in this picture:

Uncle & Cousin

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

RATS! I wrote the stuff below with hopes. I just read that most of today will be at the Capitol of Virginia with HRM arriving at Williamsburg at 5:35pm EST. I think that means there is no chance of my relatives being involved in this webcast, but you can still see the queen.

Megan and Michael’s paternal uncle and cousin (Greg and Gareth) are two of the nine Honor Guards for HRM Elizabeth II during her visit to Jamestown’s 400th Anniversiary Celebration. At 3:30 today (I suspect 2:30 CST), her Walkabout of the Jamestown site will be webcast. Look for the guys:

Photo Potpourri

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Megan enjoys wearing and walking in her parents shoes. Pictured here, she is gearing up for wearing high heels. Perhaps this is a warning of things to come in terms of “dress up”:

Our American Girl:

That must be disgusting:

Megan took her brother’s place in “tummy time” on the boppy. He moved. She moved in.
